Fall

I LOVE FALL!  LOVE!  I'm so thankful that I live in such a beautiful place.  You might have heard me complain about Tottenham, but it is beautiful. We had a quiet day today.  Alice was sick last night and so we stayed home from church.  I'm not exactly sure what was wrong with her, (aside from the teething) but she was completely fine all day today.  Our whole family had a fun walk and Kate and I went back for more while Alice was napping.  I LOVE FALL!

Cooper's 4th Birthday Party!

Shawn (Cooper's Mama) out did herself this year!  What a fun Octonauts themed party.  The kids (not just mine - all of them) had a blast.  I was so happy we could be there to wish Cooper a happy 4th birthday.  At some point both Cooper and Kate will choose to invite their own friends, and not the children of their parent's friends, but until that day, we will celebrate!!

Kate the Cat

Kate has been drawing on herself again lately which is annoying.  Today she was colouring and I walked away to do something and when I walked back this is what I found.  (Well, I moved her to the couch to take her picture so it isn't exactly what I found...)

I asked her what she was doing and she said that she wanted to be a cat.  You can't see but there are lines on her cheeks that are meant to be whiskers.  I cleaned off her face and told her that I would make her into a cat. 

She was one happy cat all afternoon and didn't even complain when we had to wipe her cheeks before bed.  (I knew my eye liner would come in handy one day!) (Oh and next time Kate and Alice wear their new matching Joe Fresh dresses I really must take a picture - SO CUTE!)

Chudleigh's Apple Farm

When we pulled into the parking lot, Kate asked if Lucy would be there.  We told her no, Lucy's in Utah.  It was fun to see Uncle Jon last week and think about last year when he was up with the whole family.  But today we went to the apple farm with just our little family.  It was a beautiful fall day and we had a fun trip.

We weren't sure if we would be able to pick apples.  The website has the following disclaimer: IMPORTANT MESSAGE  - Unusual 2012 Spring weather reduced apple crops in Ontario to 20% of an average year. In spite of Mother Nature, we are doing our best to gather a good supply of apples. Chudleigh’s will have Ontario grown fresh #1 apples: A few varieties will be Pick Your Own (PYO), on specific dates only, please click Apple Picking info. The remaining varieties will be Ready Picked (RP), bagged and available in the market while quantities last. Dates for specific varieties will be posted at this site as information develops. Enjoy the activities at the farm and have a fun day in the country!  Carol and Tom Chudleigh  When we got to the entrance, the greeter whispered that there were honey crisp to pick.  She even said shh a couple of times.  They can't advertise on their website because there's just no guarantees.  Ken thought we should pick first, so we did, after a short nature walk.

I looked back at last years pictures, to confirm that I was remembering things correctly, and I was.  Last year the trees were full of apples, this year, the trees looked naked.  It is incredible the damage that was done by a crazy warm week in March.  After the apple picking - two small bags, one of Honey Crisp and the other of Kerr - a type of crab-apple, it was on to the petting farm.

Once we had fed and petted lots of goats, sheep and deer we went to find the ponies, walk around on hay bales and go down the slides!

 

I think the best thing about today, (aside from the apples and being with my family) was the weather.  It was supposed to rain all day today so we weren't going to go... but the forecast changed and it was a beautiful day!
