This was a busy week filled with cousin time! On Sunday was Kate's blessing, Monday was a trip to the mall for the girls and a movie for the boys. Tuesday was a visit to the Science Centre, Wednesday hanging out in Tottenham and Thursday hanging out in Thornhill. Kate and I already miss them, see you soon!

Blessing Day

First of all, I'm so thankful that the weather cooperated and everyone was able to arrive safely! Secondly, I'm grateful for everyone who was willing to travel, in Canada, in February, in the first place!

We had a wonderful day with all of our family. Ken's parents were able to come from Manitoulin and two of Ken's sisters and their families were able to come from Hamilton. My sister Suzanne and her family were able to come, and they win the distance prize having driven from New Hampshire - with four small children no less.

Kate was blessed at the Richmond Hill chapel by her Daddy. The one thing that stands out to me from Kate's blessing is that she was blessed to know how special she is. I am grateful for this. Understanding your worth as a son or daughter of God is what helps you to make right choices. I want Kate to know her worth.

After church we all gathered back at my parents house and enjoyed a lovely afternoon with lots of good food - thank you to everyone! There were many pictures taken. I'm only posting our family pictures, but I will put the rest on our photo site.

Six Weeks Old Today

I really want to capture a smile, however I don't think I'm going to be able to do it alone. She smiles and then I hold the camera up and the smile fades. This last picture is as close to a smile as I could get - for now!

Valentine's Day

We actually celebrated Valentine's Day on the 13th this year. I made Ken a cake, a very ugly but yummy cake, he bought me flowers and Kate got a polar bear! I wanted to get her a polar bear as she is a January baby and being a January baby in Canada made me think she should have a polar bear. Ken found the perfect little polar bear.

Another week has flown by...

Monday and Tuesday were kind of blah. I was sick Sunday night and felt a little off on Monday and then Ken was sick and stayed home Tuesday. My great accomplishment on Monday was setting up the activity quilt that Grandma Ruth gave Kate. She seems to like it very much.

Wednesday was action packed. Kate and I made our first solo trip south to Thornhill to see the doctor. Kate weighed in at 9lbs 15oz and measured 23 in. Needless to say the breastfeeding is going well! After going to the doctor we went to the mall and bought a pretty white dress for Kate to be blessed in. After the mall we went by Blue Willow Public School to play show and tell. It was after school so it was just a teacher visit. Once it gets warmer and there aren't as many coughs and colds we'll go see my students.

Kate and her Daddy do look alike! But mostly this photo is for the cute outfit - Kate's outfit!

And I'm not sure if you can tell, but we made Kate's hair stick up - she has such fun hair.

On Thursday we wore coordinated outfits and went to a Books and Babies group at the library. Kate was by far the youngest but I still think she enjoyed the singing and story telling.

My friend Shawn had a photograph of her little boy Cooper and a stuffed animal when he was a few weeks old and then again at a few months old. You could tell how much Cooper had grown when you saw him compared to the toy. I thought this was a great idea, so here is Kate - 5 weeks old and the bear that Elisa Testa gave her.

Friday we went to Alliston and visited Ken at work. We played show and tell and everyone oohed and ahhed. I know she doesn't look particularly feminine in the bear hat but it is just so cute.

Finally the smile. For the past week and a half Kate has been smiling more and more but never directly at me or in response to me. This afternoon I looked into her eyes and smiled and she smiled right back and yes I cried a little! I tried to get her to smile again on camera but this was about as good as it got.

The Transformation Has Begun!

The only thing that makes me sad about painting over the maple leafs room is my Dad! However, stage one is complete, the maple leafs border is now gone. Soon the maple leafs room will be just a funny memory - oh and a few pictures of course!

One Month Old

Shower - part one

Kate's baby shower was this past Saturday. I would like to thank Zorana and Ruth for doing such an awesome job organizing everything. I would also like to thank everyone who came, I was overwhelmed by everyone's generosity. Kate is going to be the best dressed little girl for quite some time! And I want to thank Lisa for sending me some pictures to post, I took my camera and didn't take a single picture!

A Week in Review

The week began with a celebration of pink. And the best way to celebrate the wearing of pink on a Monday is by actually leaving the house and going for a walk to the post office and grocery store. We also enjoyed a visit from Nikki and Spencer and Addison - thanks for driving all the way to Tottenham!

On Tuesday Kate posed with one of the new couch pillows - ooh, ah!

On Wednesday Wendy didn't think and put Kate in her swing after a feeding... I just wanted to fold some laundry... if you look closely you can see the spit-up... oops!

On Thursday Kate decided to be highly disgruntled which in turn made her mother highly disgruntled. Kate was also four weeks on Thursday. Fortunately everyone was smiling again at the end of the day.

And to round out a lovely week, Kate and Wendy left the house again!!
