One last post about Utah
It was such a lovely trip and over far too quickly. I just wanted to write a short note to say thanks to my Mom and Dad for making it possible. They provided much needed financial assistance so that everyone could be together. I love my family so much, those in my immediate family and my extended family. It is such a wonderful blessing to spend time together. I don't know when we'll all be together again, but hopefully it will be sooner than later.

Hill AFB, swimming and goodbye.
I was very excited to go to Hill AFB mostly because I thought this was where the IMAX movie "Fighter Pilot- Operation Red Flag" was filmed. I kept looking for some information about the movie and didn't find any. It wasn't until I got home that I found out it was filmed in Nevada. It makes sense that I would remember the brown dusty landscape and think of Utah. It was a really hot day and as much fun as looking at the big planes outside was, I was happy to go inside.

Seth and Marcus are such cuties.

Jon and Marcus

I wish Andrew could look after Kate when I return to work. He is so amazing with her, and with all his nephews and nieces.

Ken didn't want to pose by the hydrogen bomb but I told him that I needed perspective. I had no idea they were so huge.

Andrew and Marcus and Andrew's favourite plane the SR-71. It could fly from New York to London in less than two hours.

I'm not sure why I thought planes with mouths was such an essential photo op but here it is again.

Seth, Andrew, Jon and Marcus on the other side of the SR-71.

This is the SR-71 without the flash so you can actually see it. This photo is mostly for Andrew and maybe a little for Jon. I'll have to make a point to get Andrew to look at it.

And of course I had to put a big hat on Kate in the gift shop.

I thought this picture of Marcus and Kate was so cute I just had to use it.

We took several pictures (preceded by much bribery) of the three kids and this one as slightly goofy as it is was the best one. Photographing groups of children is definitely not my forte.

The outside of the museum. I took this picture last, even though it might have made sense to put it first I'm a stickler for chronology!

After the museum and shopping and lunch it was time for more swimming. This was only the second time I took Kate in the pool. Swimming time seemed to coincide with her napping. But this was a much happier experience. It was warmer and I put her to sleep immediately after she was in the pool. The only bad thing was that she scraped her toes on the side of the pool, however it took me until we were on the plane the next day to notice, I'm such a good mom.

Seth really was so cute with Kate.

Jon and his boys.

After swimming we were treated to steak dinner by Andrew. The steak was so good. I'm hungry right now and thinking about the steak is making my mouth water. The Miller's came up to Eden again which was so nice. Mary had just come home from England and so that meant we got to see her, yay!

Joey and Kate

I can't believe how much Joe looks like Tim - or at least to me he does. Maybe it's because Jeremy and Nick are so blond, I don't know. But I thought Joe cuddling with his Mom was so cute. Ellie you and John raised such sweet tender boys!

Cutie cousins!

John and Jon. I've got John/Jons on one side and Kens on the other. Talk about overuse!

Salt Lake City - Temple Square
The first thing that we did (after parking) was go to temple square to attend an organ recital. Kate and I were at the back mostly as Kate felt it was a fun opportunity to make lots of noise. The organ recital was great.

After the organ recital we went to the Garden Restaurant in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. It's a nice restaurant with beautiful views of the city. Kate enjoyed eating avacado (and the menu) and the adults enjoyed deep-fried pickles!

After lunch we went on a tour of the Beehive House. One of the sisters that gave the tour was from Quebec. This picture was taken as we were walking to the conference center. I was a little sad that Kate was asleep. However I think the picture is still nice.

The Salt Lake temple really is a magnificent building. It's a little mind boggling thinking about how many years it took to build. It really is a monument of faith.

The inside of the conference center is huge. This picture was taken at the back of the balcony. To think that it can hold 21,000 is staggering. I didn't realize that the hallways around the entrances into the auditorium are mini art galleries. It makes sense to give people something to look at while they're waiting.

This is the mural on the top of the building. The top of the building is covered with gardens. Walking around on the top of the building, sure didn't feel like the top of a building, until you looked down of course.

Our guide was great. He was very down to earth and sincere. He took this picture for us.

After we enjoyed looking at the art display - the top two hundred pieces of art from the international contest that the church has every few years, we waited in the shade while Ken went to get the car.

Wendy and Kate and Wendy - yay!

On the way home to Wolf Creek we stopped in Ogden at Farr's for ice cream, yum!

Water Adventures at Wolf Creek
Yay for Suzanne! She organized this aquatic fun. We rented kayaks and a paddle boat and hours of fun ensued.
Jon and kids in the paddle boat.

The grandparents watching sleeping babies.

Matthew in a kayak with Thomas.

Matthew coming in to change passangers.

Joey's turn.

A. Wendy enjoying a turn in the kayak. This in turn was the cause of an interesting cultural dialogue that came to light a few days later. Moral of the story, the same English word can mean two completely different things depending on whether you speak British or American!

I think Isaac loves the water? Maybe? Just a little?

Isaac going back for more.

Suzanne and Thomas being attacked by Andrew.

A lovely day! Oh wait, that was just the morning.

What is sadly not pictured is the epic paddle boat-kayak battle. We paddled like mad but they still caught up to us. Suzanne and I (and Thomas) got quite wet, but we did take an oar!

How much can you do in one day?
If you thought that the water adventures at the reservoir were enough fun for one day you'd be wrong! After the kayaking and paddle boat fun we returned to the timeshare, had some food and went swimming. The pool at Wolf Creek was awesome. There was a huge shallow end, a separate kiddie pool and an awesome water slide. Sadly after swimming it was time to say goodbye.

Kate and Seth posing for a picture. Seth was so cute with Kate. He is going to be a great big brother to Eliana!

Anna enjoying a snack. How much actually went inside of her is undetermined.

One last wrestling match before saying goodbye.

No one says goodbye like Jon and Matthew.

Joey and Uncle Jon saying goodbye.

Joey and Marcus saying goodbye.

Isaac and Marcus saying goodbye.

Three sad cousins and one sad uncle.

See you later Bacons (the Bates were saying goodbye) but we would get to spend more time with the Bacons on Friday.

Hugs to the Bates family. It's just never long enough, move back to Canada already!

Matthew and Ken saying goodbye is no Matthew and Jon saying goodbye. I mentioned a kiss but neither were interested. This was as much love as there was.

Just Kate. After all of the cousins were gone Kate was the lone cousin who would now play the role of great-niece.
