Tuesday September 2nd meant back to school for me, Fiona and Alice. The high school has grade 9 day - a day for the grade 9s to get oriented and meet their teachers and learn their way around. I love this idea and wish it had existed when I was in grade 9. Everyone had a great first day. I'm super thankful for parents who send me pics of my kids and their adventures!

Labour Day Weekend
Saturday
Today was a shopping, painting, lock practicing kind of day.
Sunday
Today was a beautiful Sabbath morning walk, more painting, Joey's homecoming watching, Sonia and family stopping by, henna-ing kind of day.
Monday
Today was a cling snuggle, beautiful walk at Greenwood, room arranging, driving range visiting, back to school nails, present delivering, sign making (back to school blessings too - it's own post) kind of day.
And just like that the summer is over and it's back to school. It has been a really wonderful summer of down time and busy time. Of visits with friends and family. I'm so thankful for summers. I'm not happy to be going back to work, but I'm resigned. The days keep going whether you want them to or not. I am grateful that I love my job. Here's to another amazing school year! Thank you summer for your happy memories that will carry us through.

Visiting in Port Colborne
We have never lived close by Ken's parents. When we first got married they were living Codrington which was an hour and half away. In June of 2007 they moved to Manitoulin Island where they lived until 2020, which was when the moved to Port Colborne. Manitoulin was the extreme of course over 6 hours away. Now that they're in Port Colborne they're about two hours away, but those two hours involve driving through Toronto - or just north and paying to go on the 407. Either way, driving to Niagara is not the most fun trip. Ken's parents aren't up for driving that much, so if we want to see them, we need to make the drive. Ken has wanted us to do that more lately, so we've made more of an effort and it's been good.
On the way to visit today we popped into at Laura and Joaquin's to drop off a certain promised Paw Patrol Tower. Sadly Alejandro was out with Joaquin's parents but we were later informed that Alejandro loves it!
Our visit today included siting and chatting. It also involved walking the doggies. And then we went out for a lovely meal together. We had a nice day!

Alice goes to FSY
On Monday morning Ken took Alice, Ryan, Limengo and Alexia to the church parking lot to meet the bus for FSY. Alice wanted to go but had mixed emotions. The mystery of her roommate remained, and she was a little concerned about the length of time, six whole days! Why did it need to be six whole days! Ken and I told her she'd love it, we told her the time would pass quickly. I prayed she would have a good time and off she went!
I got a text from Alice at 2:30 in the afternoon letting me know that her roommate was River. I still get tingles thinking about it. God is good! River and Alice were in nursery together in Orangeville Ward. River and her family moved away to Thunder Bay. I'm not sure if it was before or after we moved to Ajax, but we both left the area. Two years ago when they were moving back to the area and River was going to the temple, I got a message from her mom Katie asking if we would go to the temple too as River only remembered Alice. We met up at the temple and had a lovely night. River and Alice are both a little quiet and I don't think either of them know very many people, so for them to be matched together was just beyond amazing!
Alice's pics from Monday

Anything else you really want to remember about this experience: The devotionals.
