I'm not into soccer, not even if you call it football. I'm not sure why I ever played soccer as a kid, but that definitely sealed the deal on that one. But if my footie loving brother wants to get a cute shirt for his niece to wear, who am I not to support him?! And because we can, here is the trio of cute nieces all wearing the Liverpool shirt!

Going for a walk in Palgrave is not always possible!
I'm not a hiker. I think I have dreams that one day I will be some sort of hiker. One of our neighbours is always going on walks with her dogs in the woods. I mentioned to Ken the other day that I wanted to go on a hike/walk and so it was decided that today would be the day!
Our first mistake was not leaving the house early enough. Our second mistake was going all the way over to Airport Road instead of Hwy 50, because we forgot where Palgrave was. Our biggest mistake however was trying to take Kate on a walk when there was "business" to be taken care of.
The plan was to take a trail but to go in the forest a little. (Oh, here's another mistake... it was a little cool and I didn't have proper attire for the baby - not sufficient to take her out of her car seat anyway.) We had the stroller so we weren't sure how far we were going to get exactly and it was almost lunch and we had neglected to bring any snacks. (Oh, yet another mistake... no snacks!)
We parked the car at the Rotary Park in Palgrave. There's a cute little pavilion.
The girls danced around the pavilion, re-enacting the first time we took Kate there. It was really cute. Then we set out on the path.
It was really muddy by the water but we went to look anyway.
And then Kate started doing a different dance and was doing an awkward, panicked walk back to the car.
And thus ended our first attempt at a family hike. We will try again. I'm not sure when as our weekends the next little while are a little full, but we will try again!

Going to a Dance
In church last Sunday they announced that there was going to be a dance on the coming Friday. It was a family activity. Kate looked at me with wide eyes. She wanted to go. She asked to go. Ken and I thought, why not?
Both girls napped on the way up to Barrie. I did a little shopping, we had dinner. And then we went to the dance. Kate was really excited. We got there before it officially started. Alice started dancing right away. Did I mention that Alice's idea of dancing is to run in circles?
After the opening prayer when the activity was officially going, that's when the dance really started. That's when they turned the music up. So we went to decorate cookies. I was sad that Kate, who was so excited about the dance, wasn't actually going to dance because the music was just too loud.
Ask and ye shall receive! Someone asked, and the music was turned down. Kate and Alice danced up a storm with their Dad. They just loved it.

Orangeville Babies
There was a shower for a dear friend today. She's having her fourth boy in a couple of weeks. I was excited to celebrate and to recreate a moment from a party in the same house a year and a half ago.
This was us, the Moms and the 2011 babies taken at a Valentine Party in February of 2012.
And now here we are today.
I hope that these wonderful associations will continue and that we'll be taking this picture again in a few years!

Fiona is Three Months Old
There were two firsts this week. Fiona's first swim - on Saturday, August 31, and Fiona's first ride on a swing - Wednesday, September 4th.
She's a cutie!! Of course, I took the posed three month shot and some more for fun! We love our little Fiona. Oh, and I really think she's going to roll over sooner than later. She's doing now what her sisters did at four months. We'll see though, it might take her another few weeks for her to complete a rotation. When I put her on her back, she rolls to her side and then starts trying to get to her tummy.
It was a beautiful evening tonight, made even more beautiful by my beauties! I love my girlies!

Kate's First Day of School
Everything went so smoothly this morning! Ken was able to give Kate a father's blessing this morning. This was a tradition in my house - receiving a father's blessing before the new school year, it is one that I want to continue. Kate was blessed to be a light to those around her, to be understanding of the needs of her classmates, she was blessed to look for uplifting friends.
Kate was very excited and extremely cooperative. We went outside and took pictures before we walked to school, then the whole family walked Kate to school. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect when we got there, but Kate and I walked into the school yard and quickly found her class. She will have a few different teachers - two teachers, an ECE teacher, and who knows how many other teachers she might see. One really neat thing is that one of the sisters in our ward, Cindy Lee is one of her teachers. I was so excited to see her this morning. Another fun thing is that a few of her preschool classmates are in her class, and our neighbour Aiden is in her class too!
Alice and I had a preview of what it would be like not having Kate around when Ken took her to the dentist yesterday... it's going to be quiet. Today when we were out doing errands, Alice noticed two things: When we were in the van, she said "Kate's not singing.". It's true. Kate loves to sing along to the music. After our grocery trip, she said "Kate's not hitting me, she's at school.". I look forward to the day that Kate will stop hitting Alice altogether. I took a picture of Alice this morning too. I thought she would want her picture taken, but she looked at me kind of queerly and said, "I not go to school". But she took a cute picture anyway!
When Kate got home I asked her some questions about her day.
Favourite thing today - when some kids were naughty, running around
Thing she didn't like - nothing, she liked everything
Favourite activity - lying on the carpet and reading books
There was also some mention about holding hands and solving a mystery. They read Ten Drowsy Dinosaurs and they had gym class. In gym class, they were jumping when it was a bumpy road and walking single file when it was a narrow road.
I'm excited and happy for my sweet little girl. I'm glad that so far, she loves school! And you know what? Six hours goes by pretty quick!

Kate and the Cavities
Kate was very brave. Ken said there were no tears at all. I think the nitrous helped. I mean of course it helped. Kate had two cavities filled, one on the top and one on the bottom of her left side. She had a needle to freeze the area on top - with the nitrous of course. And Ken said she only bit the dentist a little - as in was clamping down her jaw by the end. Afterwards Ken took her to Walmart and she got a barbie fairy that came with a Pegasus horse named Mariposa.
At dinner tonight when I asked her what it felt like when she had the nitrous oxide she said that it felt like she was jumping on marshmallows!

Cute Sayings (Mostly recylced facebook status updates)
APRIL
Wendy: Kate what did you just throw on the floor?
Kate: Nothing.
Wendy: What did you throw on the floor?
Kate: A piece of paper towel.
Wendy: You need to put that in the green bin in the kitchen.
Kate: No I don't.
Wendy: Who's going to pick it up? I didn't throw it on the floor.
Kate: Mom you need to apologize to me.
Wendy: Why?
Kate: Don't you love me anymore?
MAY
Alice: I so happy!
On the way home from church today Kate told me the following:
Mommy, inside my skin is my bones. Inside my head is my brain and when zombies come to your house they eat your brains.
When Alice says 'Where money go?" It's time to get worried. This time it was wedged into my printer's SD card slot.
JUNE
Kate: I'm so excited for the new baby to come. Is it a boy or a girl?
Me: I don't know, we have to wait until it comes out and see if it has boy parts or girl parts.
Kate: Well you look and see if it has a boy tummy and I'll look and see if it has boy eyes.
This afternoon as Kate was crawling into her Grandma's lap for a cuddle she said: Grandma, I'm going to tell you everything I know. I know spring, summer, fall, winter and disco.
I love it when Alice climbs up on her sleeping Dad and says "cock-les-do!"
JULY
Wasn't sure which comedy of errors was more amusing, the fact that it took five diapers before Fiona stopped sneeze/cough/pooping in her diaper while I was changing her OR when Alice walked in sticking out her tongue sticking saying "that yucky". What was in Alice's mouth you ask? Her Daddy's deodorant. Ew. Oh and I just discovered the deodorant crumble mess... fun times! Oh yes, fun times!
We bored a copy of the movie 101 Dalmatians from a friend. Alice calls it "a hundred dollarations".
AUGUST
Left the little girls alone in my room and after a few minutes I started to get nervous about it being way too quiet. What scene would await me when I opened the door... Kate sitting up with Alice lying beside her, Kate reading a book to her sister. (Yay for sweet Mommy moments on a grumpy day.)
I am nominating Ken for father of the year. Kate just came downstairs and told me the story you told her tonight (and yes I can hear you snoring upstairs while Kate is down here and is very much awake...) You told her a stories about monkeys throwing poop... seriously?! I love you! BUT SERIOUSLY?!
Want to hear the funniest joke ever?
Alice: Do you know what?
Ken: What?
Alice then dissolves into giggles! (We don't get it either!)
Alice asked me tonight if I wanted to go to Australia with her. She said it's still open.
Oh and for a few days in August Alice was calling herself "Alarena". Which sounded like ballerina without the b. So cute!
Kate: Dad can you pretend you have a uterus?
Wendy: Kate what did you just throw on the floor?
Kate: Nothing.

Grandpa: What other names can I call you? Can I call you Princess, Monkey, Pookie? When your mother was a little girl on the beach we called her perpetual motion.
Alice: No my Mom not on the beach she upstairs nursing Fiona.
