Fiona two point oh

Two.  Fiona is two. I was a stay at home Mom for almost that whole time.  I have spent almost all day every day of the last two years with Fiona in my arms, or at my side, or right behind me.  She has been my biggest Mommy Monster, and closest shadow.  Her turning two feels right, not rushed.  I went to work three weeks ago and everything has been okay.  Some days frantic, every day busy, but with an underlying calm that everyone, and everything will be just fine, great even.

We've had an awesome weekend of celebrating our Fifi.  Grandma and Grandpa came over Friday night for dinner, cake, present opening and a little tee-ball.

Saturday was an absolutely perfect day.  We got up, had French Toast, Fiona opened her Mommy and Daddy presents and carried around her cards saying "mine."

Then it was off to Brooks Farm to meet Shawn and Cooper.  I can't say enough about the weather - it was absolutely perfect.  Beautiful sunshine (we're all a a little pink), wonderful company, and a really fun place, we all had such a lovely time.  The kids played, lots, we went on a train/wagon ride, had lunch, fed animals, and just played and played.  There were slides, bouncy animals, real animals, a bouncy pillow to jump on, zip lines, a chicken show, hay bales, a sand box, a play house, and a huge awesome pirate ship - the Black Pumpkin.  When we first got there we had the place almost to ourselves.  As the day progressed more people came, but it never felt over run.  We didn't end up leaving until 3:15, having got there about 10:30, but I could have stayed longer.  I think the only thing I would have liked to add to the farm - pony rides.  Oh well!  Honestly though, perfect day.

Then it was off home, tried to transfer Fiona, didn't work, so we all went to tee-ball, then dinner at Kelsey's in Orangeville.  I tried to get "the" picture at tee-ball, Ken tried to take a few more at Kelsey's.

Today, church, home, quiet.  I tried to take another pic of Fiona after church, still not satisfied that I had yet to take THE picture.  She's two.  What can I say.  She wasn't really into taking pictures...

But then, I pulled her into my lap, and I got this.
Oh I love you my sweet Fiona, so much.  I'm so grateful to be your Mom.  Happy Birthday!

Nursing

Alice still, every so often, will ask to nurse.  We laugh about it, I tickle her and say no.  She and Fiona nurse their dolls.  I remember at the baby classes Ken and I went to before Kate - we had a session about breastfeeding.  The instructor asked who wasn't afraid of nursing working out.  I raised my hand.  I explained that my mother was a lactation consultant and that breastfeeding was what you did, and it would be what I did.  To which the instructor replied that I had grown up in a culture of breastfeeding.  I hope my girls grow up with that same feeling.  I hope that I will be able to help them, like my Mom helped me.

And we won't say a word about the fact that Alice thinks she's supposed to nurse her baby at her waist... nope, not a word.

Kate's Last Dance Class

I thought we would take a break from dance as we were starting T-ball, and it just seemed like time for a break.  Kate however had different ideas.  She desperately wanted to do Mix-It-Up-Dance.  A different dance style each week.  Alice did decide to take a break and I think that worked well.  I should ask Kate to list all the different dance styles.  I know they did tap, jazz, hip hop, they might have done acro.  Anyway, tonight was Kate's last class and it was so cute.  It was hard keeping Fiona from dancing, but she managed, and Kate danced her heart out!

Elmvale Zoo

Preschool fun!  I was sick today? That sounds yucky.  That is the only part of today that is upsetting.  Oh well.  One sick day in six weeks back at work isn't terrible is it?!

Today was Alice's preschool trip to Elmvale Zoo and it was a family affair.  Well, a McCartney Girl affair.  Ken was at work in London, so it worked out well for me to be off for the day as he had to leave before 7 in the morning!

We drove up in the van - no bus for anyone.  It's a long drive, made longer by it being unfamiliar, but once we were out of the van and into the zoo we had fun.  Well, we had more fun after Alice finally figured out that she had to stay close and not wander away!  EEK!

I'd never been to the zoo before.  It's very small.  It was very full of school trips too.  I enjoyed the day with my girls.  And it was fun to be so close to the giraffes.  This sounds terrible.  I really did have a great day with my girls.  I should be able to do happy without melancholy.  Here's to sick days and my sweet girls!
