Before I left for work, I handed Ken the camera and said, "You need to document your Daddy-Daughter Day". When I came home and checked the camera, this is what I found.
I suppose that at the very least I knew that he had fed her breakfast... and to rectify the situation we then had to go out as a family. Our first stop was Thai food in Newmarket, YUM!
Kate wasn't interested in sitting so we took turns walking around and eating. After the food it was time for a park.
Our last stop was for Ken. He wanted a hoe, so we went to Home Depot. Unfortunately they didn't have the sort of hoe he was looking for, but Kate did have fun playing on the riding lawn mowers!

Father's Day
I so wanted a cute new picture of Ken and Kate to post along with some lovely thoughts about Ken... but no pic. Ken has been sick this weekend so a little less than photogenic. I think I can still manage a few nice words though... I'm so thankful that Kate has a father who thinks she's the most beautiful girl in the world, and the most brilliant. I love watching Ken watch Kate, like tonight at dinner when Kate had ketchup for the first time and dipped her fry (I know we're such good parents) in and sucked off the ketchup and Ken had this look on his face like she was the smartest, cutest thing on the planet. All little girls need a daddy who is wrapped around their little finger, and Kate definitely has that in Ken.
I didn't get Ken a card from Kate, he doesn't really like cards and well I finally gave in to that. So here my love is your card for all the world - well my tiny world of readers - to see. I love you so much and I'm so glad that you're my little girl's Daddy.

A Day in Barrie
Ken loves going to Farmer's Markets, and I suppose I do too. We decided for this particular adventure to drive up to Barrie and check out their Farmer's Market.
It wasn't very big and there wasn't a huge selection of stuff, but we found some fun treats and we enjoyed walking around. I think Kate's favourite part was the Bear.
After the market we drove along the water and I insisted we drive to find this beach that my parent's had taken me to. The catch being, I wasn't sure how to get there and I couldn't remember the name of it. I figured if we drove around the water we'd find it because I would remember the name when I saw it. And sure enough, I did. Minet's Point Beach has a fun little park and beach area.
Kate really wanted to pet the ducks, but didn't seem too irritated that she wasn't allowed to. It helps of course that when you get too close to them, the move away!
How is it that all kids want to climb up slides backwards? I think this must come bred into them.
I must say that I'm proud of the way this shot turned out, but I shouldn't be. I didn't try to line up the sea monster, it was just a fluke!
I love our Saturday family adventures!

Kate is 17 Months!
What to say about the sweetest girl in the world? At seventeen months Kate is still only walking while holding a finger, she just won't let go... someday she'll be ready, maybe by the time she's three? Kate is however doing lots of things! Her vocabulary is expanding daily - last night it was elbow! She loves to play outside in the sand/water table, in her swing, and she loves to lead me around the neighbourhood visiting. She loves animals and their sounds - dog, cat, chicken, sheep, cow are the noise favourites. She loves to be sung to, and yesterday she was actually trying to sing the abcs. She loves books - train and animal books are the favourites right now. Favourite foods include, bananas, apples, cauliflower, broccoli, macaroni and cheese, pizza, cheerios and cheese. She's such a loving child - except when she's expected to share! (We're working on that... I know we'll always be working on that.) She gives the sweetest hugs and kisses. We love our Kate!

Playing at the Park
Currently there is not one good park in all of Tottenham. There's a few okay lack-lustre parks but not a great park. The town is putting one in, however at the rate at which things are progressing Kate won't be playing there until next summer. There is however a great park up in Alliston and a great park down in the Beaches. I love going to the park. It's such a lovely way to spend a day - well part of it anyway!

A Regular Party Girl
Being back at work doesn't allow for many play-dates so birthday parties are such a lovely way to see friends! (mine... not Kate's)
First was Darby's party.
Last weekend was Maddie's party. (A tutu party no less!)
And today was Ciaran's party.

Puck's Farm
Puck's Farm is located on the 11th concession in King, just south of Hwy 9. We drive past the sign on Hwy 9 all the time and have wanted to take Kate there for ages. Kate loves farm animals. She has several farm animal books and toys and a movie too! Perhaps if we had not been filled with so much anticipation we wouldn't have been quite so disappointed...
It started out well. Kate was excited to see the cows in the pasture.
And the pony ride was fine - if you ignore the fact that the woman that led her around the little loop stunk like marijuana. (We had seen her across the way smoking, silly me, I thought it was a cigarette. I suppose she had to live up to the name stitched into the back of her ball cap - Purple Haze)
I suppose I don't have a complaint about the sign...
And the animals in the barn were fine - although some were a little ragged looking and the barn itself was a little dirtier than it needed to be, and well a paint job might be in order. The pigs were definitely cute. However the hissing goose and the cock-a-doodling rooster made Kate cry, so that put a damper on things.
And what is it about goats - these the goats of the apocalypse had more horns than I'd ever seen on goats before... is it wrong to be creeped out by goats?
We didn't wait around for the hay ride... We'll wait a year and perhaps we'll try to take Kate to a farm again, but we definitely won't be going back to Puck's. Sadly not worth the $10/adult admission!

Kate and the Chair
Kate loves this chair. She loves to remove the cushions.
She loves to look out the window.
She loves to hang out.
And of course I love to capture it all!
