Goodness! I feel like crying, and then I feel guilty, and then I try to be kind to myself, and then it just goes round and round and round again.
Monday (almost two weeks ago now) I got home from work and took Milo for a walk. We didn't walk very far and I walked funny. I stepped on the edge of the sidewalk and rolled my ankle and I fell down hard on my left knee onto the sidewalk. I sat on the ground feeling my ankle throb and I thought oh no, oh no. I was able to get up and walk, so I thought, maybe it isn't too bad, so I kept walking, but then thought better of it and called Ken to come get me. I spent that night and the next day in bed, but managed to get myself downstairs on Wednesday. I watched a few different things, and almost a whole season of Alone with Ken. I re-did all of my day plans, and redid the plans for the next week, and then I did a whole ton of marking, I took ankle pics everyday and I was feeling okay and maybe guiltily even a little happy about being on the couch with a sprained ankle. I had been feeling a little burned out and it seemed like a little blessing to have three days off!

Seth's concert - it was live-streamed on YouTube and I saw a little bit! He plays tuba an he's on the left at the back... I can't imagine you can tell who he is!

After 72 hours of rest... OH! Janelle. I forgot. On Monday night I thought nope, I'm not going to the hospital. Ken agreed and we said we would reevaluate in the morning. Tuesday morning Alice came to talk to me and we chatted about the hospital. I mentioned that I just wanted to call a friend for medical advice, and Alice said call Janelle! I sent Janelle a message and she called right back. Janelle is a nurse practitioner and I trust her completely. Janelle said to google the Ottawa Ankle Rules - these being the guidelines doctors use to evaluate whether or not someone requires x-rays. She said to watch it (my ankle), is the swelling going down, does it feel better, reminded me this wasn't a proper diagnosis, but did agree that it didn't sound like I needed to go to the hospital. After talking to her and googling the OAR, I felt pretty good that rest at home was what I needed.
After 72 hours of rest, I went back to work on Friday. I was slow, very slow, but my ankle felt good. I did my duty, and I even got a prep payback! Good times! I made a couple of stops on the way home and then came home and started to make dinner, and then I just couldn't stand any more. I took to the couch and started using the crutches again. I totally over did it! However, after spending all of Saturday on the couch I was feeling good again!

On Sunday I felt weird. My throat felt weird. It didn't hurt but it felt weird. I took a rapid covid test and it was negative, so I thought, whatever, and went on with my day. Sunday afternoon I took a nap - I don't do this very often. I felt so exhausted. Sunday night my throat started to feel more like it was hurting, but it still mostly felt weird. I took a zinc, some vitamin D and thought, I just need a good night's sleep.
Sunday May 1
Monday morning when I woke up my throat hurt. There was no denying it. I took another rapid test - negative. And then I felt confused and sad and resigned. I know that if you have covid symptoms you don't go to school, but I'd been away so much, and I didn't want to be away. I tried to rationalize that it was okay, but I felt a little crappy, so I just said, fine. I'll sleep all day and then I'll be fine tomorrow.
Monday May 2
As Monday wore on my symptoms multiplied and worsened, so it was no surprise, well, I was still a little surprised, when Tuesday morning I took my third test and it was positive.
Tuesday, May 3
Tuesday I felt crappier and crappier. Monday night, Tuesday night and sort of Wednesday sleeping was not fun. It was hard to sleep and I really felt like garbage on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday is when I think I started feeling a little better. At least I think that's when my throat stopped hurting? I had a slight fever, sore throat, cough, some tiredness, a little funny tummy, but thankfully no loss of smell and no trouble breathing whatsoever!
Wednesday May 4
The dog always wanting something.
Kate before school.
Fiona before school.
Alice getting the dog to look at her so I could take a goofy selfie.

Last night? Or was it Tuesday night? I asked Ken to go to Home Depot and buy some new chairs for the backyard. We inherited chairs from my parents. They're comfy and they're nice chairs, but they're huge and we have not taken good care of them... well and Milo has been a little destructive. I've wanted some newer chairs for a while. The biggest issue I've always had with the chairs my parents gave us, is the rain. The cushions get soaked in the rain and we're not great about putting them away after we use them. I just wanted chairs we could leave out and not worry about! I also wanted chairs this week so that if it actually got nice outside, I could sit in the backyard. I brought one outside today. Exciting stuff!
Which also prompted me to finally say goodbye to these cute little chairs. (I sold them in a Facebook group buy and sell group.)
Tonight there was a knock at the door and a parcel was left. It was from Sis. Yates. She is a dear, dear sister in our ward and she sent the sweetest care package of cookies, hot chocolate and a puzzle.
The girls - none of them sick, stayed home from school on Tuesday. Everyone went to school on Wednesday. Kate was grumpy and didn't go to YWs on Wednesday night. Thursday morning Kate had a sore throat. Friday, no one wanted to go to school and Kate was starting to feel worse. Fiona had a bad morning at home and decided to go to school for the afternoon. I love how much Fiona is loving school this year!
Friday May 6
Ken and I both think that Milo sniffing the air is the cutest thing ever!!
Ken and Alice love puzzles. Ken picked out a puzzle for himself for Christmas. It was painful and not much fun. He loved doing the music shop puzzle and he and Alice had it completed by this afternoon!
Kate was starting to feel worse this afternoon, but still negative for covid, according to the rapid test anyway.
And that brings us to today. Saturday May 7th. Today I'm feeling a little blue. It's been a long two weeks, but there have been many bright spots. I'm already feeling so much better, and my ankle feels great. However, I'm feeling nervous about the next week. Kate tested positive this morning and feels terrible. Ken tested negative again, but is feeling worse and worse. Fiona, still no symptoms, and Alice had covid at the beginning of March. Here's to hoping that we can stumble along and figure out the week! If we really need help we've got people to ask, so there's that. We had groceries ordered today. And I'm officially out of isolation tomorrow, so there's that too.
Kate's positive test
I can't remember the last time Alice built something with magnatiles!
Still some swelling and a little green, but so much better!
Two of the chairs!
Milo, continuing to live his best life! Sleeping on the couch whenever he gets the chance!
I'm smiling. It's all going to be okay right?!
The puzzle box - I sadly didn't get a pic before they took it apart!
OH... and later tonight we have two more tests...
Ken is positive, no surprise!
And Fiona is negative without symptoms... The question remains, will she? Won't She?!
Here's to looking for the good and seeing the blessings and to health!
