The Last Class

Alice and Kate have really enjoyed their ballet classes.  I'm glad that I'm able to sit in on Alice's class.  The teacher definitely needs the parent support, but beyond that, I can see just how much progress Alice has made.  She used to run circles almost the entire time.  She would hide in the curtains.  She would sometimes follow instructions.  Now, a few months later, she only runs a little, and she follows almost all the instructions.  She understands the ballet moves and even mentions them at home.  I wish I would have gotten a picture of Kate and Alice together.  And I really wish I would have taken a picture of them with their Grandparents.  Mom and Dad came up to watch their final class.  They really enjoyed it.

One other note.  It was so fun seeing Marisol, Elijah, Amelie and Annabella every week.  The kids all had so much fun together!

Thank you Miss Andrea for your patience.  I'm not sure if the girls will continue in the fall, but they loved their introduction to ballet!

Beaners!

One of the blessings of having girls - haircuts once a year are just fine!!  The girls loved going to Beaners when I took them last year in May before Fiona was born.  They have asked to go back many times.  Today I took them again, and they got chopped!  Kate had enough for a donation!

Hopefully now the hair brushing wars will be over!

A Party, A Walk, A Picnic

I still marvel at the fact that so many of my closest friends from my youth had their first (only) child around the same time that I had Kate.  I love watching my dear friends kiddies grow up.  It is so amazing.  Today we went as a family to celebrate Ciaran's 5th birthday.  Zorana and Jason had booked a children's entertainer - James Funnyhat to perform.  Kate LOVED the show, as did all the other 5 year olds. Alice, well, I think she might have loved it if she hadn't been asleep and woken up when we arrived, only to be plunked down on the floor in her stupor in the midst of the revelry!

We stayed after the party and had a lovely visit.

Then we were off.  The plan was to have a picnic by the lake.  Zorana and Jason live in the Beaches after all!  But we didn't want crowds... hmm, destined to fail you say?!  Um, yes!  We drove along trying to figure out where to go, where to park, we kept getting further away from the beach.  The girls wanted to play at the beach but they also wanted a park.  Our first stop was Rosetta Mclean park, atop the bluffs.  We started to get the picnic basket out only to see a sign saying no picnics allowed.  Yeesh.  So we decided to walk around anyway.

Next we drove to Bluffers Park.  I thought we could have a play structure and the beach and the picnic.  We had none of the above.  It was over run.  We drove around. There were a few parking spots in inconvenient places, and after checking with the girls, they were more interested in a play structure than the beach.  That's when we decided to just head north and find a play structure.   We drove north on Brimley and found Knob Hill Park.  It was cute.  We had a picnic, the girls played.  It definitely wasn't what I thought we would do, but it all worked out.

I love the beautiful world we live in, the beautiful friends that we share it with, and my beautiful little family!
