Here's the haircut:
Here's the story:
On Saturday (the 26th of March) I was thinking, it would be so nice to know someone who cuts hair in their home so I could get a haircut and Kate could too. I thought that Kate would be relaxed in someone's house - especially if she could watch tv. As for me I figured if the baby cried we could stop and then start again - not something you can do in a salon. The next day in church I was talking to Laura and she happened to mention she cuts hair and I asked if she cut hair at home and she said yes. She gave me her number and we set a date for Friday.
All week long I talked to Kate about getting a haircut. I would hold up her hair and say clip, clip, clip. I thought it was going well. So Friday morning we got out of the house without too much craziness and made our way up to Alliston to Laura's house. When we arrived Kate was so excited to explore. Laura had a fun basket of toys. Alice was still asleep. Laura and I chatted a little. Then Laura asked Kate if she could brush her hair. (Insert long pause, very long pause.)
Kate who seems to have inherited a flare for the dramatic - no idea where from, started to cry - sob, wail actually. She wailed for a while. And then Alice woke up. Kate finally calmed down and Alice had been nursed and was calm - but not asleep. I asked Laura if she would cut my hair while I held Alice. She said sure.
I think she got about half way through the haircut before Kate lost it again. Laura had been cutting my hair in the front room. Kate was watching tv in the back of the house. We moved to the kitchen - I stood while Laura stood behind me. I was still holding Alice and Kate watched tv and cried on and off and Laura cut my hair.
We were almost finished and it was just before noon and it seemed that there was no way we would be able to finish without help so I called Ken. His office is around the corner so being the sweetheart that he is he came over on his lunch hour to watch the two girls while Laura finished my hair. Ken went back to work - without lunch and I nursed Alice again and got her settled so we could leave and I felt awful.
If I'd known Laura for years it probably would have still been a traumatic experience. Laura was amazing through the whole thing. I kept apologizing, I feel awful about it. This isn't what you do to someone that you hope will become your friend...
We survived though and I even went and I had my picture taken for my driver's license renewal. I'm not sure when I'll get my hair cut next and who knows when I'll raise the subject with Kate again. She can just have cute slightly messy hair, for a while!

Kate Speak
I keep meaning to write things down before I forget because even though I don't want to forget and I don't think I'll forget, I'll forget.
Rice Krispies - Abba Sickies
Kraft Dinner - Broccoli Cheese
Gordon (the train) - Gore-no
Buzz Lightyear "to infinity and beyond" - nininee
Kisses Alice on the head and says "Nice kisses baby Alice"
"I love you Mommy"
She LOVES to rip the cushions of the arm chair and bounce on the chair, she calls herself a bouncy girl.
I need to get a picture of her face when she hears a funny noise. She makes on "oh" shape with her mouth and it's just so cute.
When she wants to go to sleep or just have a break from the world she asks to cuddle.
I just love love love being home with my two year old little monkey!!
A nighty garden (in the night garden)
I watch something (I want to watch youtube)
A snack! (breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack)
A pay bed! (I want to play on the bed.)
A kitchen I make dinner. Yummy dinner! (then proceeds to get out a pot if in the real kitchen, hands you plastic food if not).
A cuddle (yes, I'll go to bed now)
I pay paydough (I want to play with play dough)
pick e up (pick me up)
a la lap (sit in your lap)

Alice is Five Weeks Old!
After having a cranky morning that seemed to be turning into a no nap cranky afternoon, I decided that we would have a bit of a photo shoot. None of the pictures turned out really well, but we had fun anyway.

Matchy Matchy and other Adventures!
Today was the third time I had all of us girls in matching/coordinating outfits. The first time was when the girls' Nana and Papa came to visit. We were coordinated sort of...
I was wearing a black shirt and grey pants, Kate a grey shirt with purple writing and black pants, and Alice was wearing a purple shirt and grey pants. The purples weren't the same... and you can't really tell in the picture that Alice's shirt is purple at all...
The second time we were coordinated was on St. Patrick's day. Kate was wearing her navy shirt with a green frog, Alice was wearing a sleeper with green frogs all over it and I was wearing a green shirt. Sadly I didn't get around to taking a picture before Kate poured something all over herself and required changing.
For today's matchy-matchy experience we looked totally cute - all in red. HOWEVER a group shot never happened because of Kate's adventures in napping. She didn't nap today and fell asleep in her dinner - or at least in her high chair. She basically slept right through until morning. Ken and I watched some tv together - it was awesome!
I had Ken take a photo of me and Alice later.

Backyard Fun
Kate has a Mom who loves to buy her toys. Thankfully Kate's Dad doesn't say no, and even better, he puts the toys together - YAY! Kate loves her little cottage!
